When it comes to a collaboration between sport and fashion, Adidas knows how to pull if off. For a decade, Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas have proved to be the most successful fashion collaboration between style and athleticism, and between the people on the runway and the people on the street.
The union started with a series of trainers in 2001 for Yohji Yamamoto’s signature line, which was then followed by the launch of the Y-3 collection in Spring/Summer 2003 in Paris.

To celebrate a successful decade Y-3 has opened its first flagship store in London across from the Yohji Yamamoto boutique on Conduit Street. The store debuted with the Spring Summer 2011 collection inspired by the three decades of music history from Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix and Billy Idol. The sporty collection features shrunk vests, over-sized overalls, lamb skin motorcycle jackets and Napoleonic velvet jackets.

This is a great season for Yamamoto’s London fans indeed. What a great pleasure to spend a day in London wondering around the Yohji Yamamoto exhibition at V&A museum to learn more about his creations, then visiting his main line and Y-3 boutique to grab some amazing Summer pieces.
